Mission &
Purpose of Organization:
The Association of
Mexican American Educators, Pajaro Valley Chapter (AMAE-PV) is an
inclusive, statewide, non profit organization dedicated to improving
the educational outcomes of all students, in particular those
students of Mexican and Latino descent. AMAE-PV’s organizational
goals are: 1) to prepare teachers to understand and appreciate the
social, linguistic and cultural background of students in order to
bring out their strengths and develop their potential; 2) to supply
special expertise in addressing the educational problems of Latino
communities, 3) to influence educational policy and directions at
all levels of government and 4) to promote understanding and
recognition of cultural differences. AMAE-PV accomplishes these
goals through: professional development, directing educational
policy, building greater community participation in the educational
system and parent involvement and empowerment.

The mission of the Association of Mexican American Educators, Inc.
is to insure equal access to a quality education at all levels for
the Mexican American/Latino students where cultural and linguistic
diversity is recognized and respected. We advise state/local boards
and legislators, administrators and faculty and work in partnership
with the community and parents for the benefit of our students. We
advocate the immediate recruitment, training, retention, support,
and professional development of Mexican American/Latino educators
and others committed to the education of our students
